Boo!

This is the second card I made for the sketch challenge at Stamp TV. I kept it CAS again, and I didn't even use stamps on this card! I embossed the spider web after inking up the folder with white ink. Then I die cut a sizzix ghost and applied clear utee. I added some green ribbon and then popped up the ghost. Lastly I added the die cut boo!

STV Sketch

I made a couple of cards for this week's sketch challenge at Stamp TV. For this card I used Gina's set Blessed is the Season. I added some red sheer ribbon, embossed the white paper using SU's texture plate, and notched the corners.

A CAS sketch

I was bound and determined to get this posted early this week. I have been making a habit of posting the CAS challenge on Sunday night! So I checked out this week's challenge before I went to work today, and got thinking about what I could do with the sketch based on this card. When I came home I whipped it up in about 15 minutes! How fantastic is that?! I wish all of my cards would work out this way!

Details:

Stamps: Elements of Style

Paper: kraft, red brick, ivory

Ink: antique linen, red brick, rich cocoa

Tools: ek success border

Accessories: american crafts ribbon

Clean and Simple Color Challenge

Well girls no luck with the Gina K. CSS. Thanks for all of the lovely comments on my card! Maybe next time! Congrats to Tara aka stampqueen!

The CAS color challenge on SCS was to use ivory, kraft, brown, red, and optional orange. I recently watched a tutorial on how to double emboss using nestabilities and a cuttlebug folder, and I had to try it. If you would like to see how this is done you can click here: Double Embossing. I like how it turned out. I will be using this technique again.

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Gina K's Fall Challenge

It is time for a new Center Stage Spotlight Designer challenge over at Stamp TV. Gina's theme for the challenge is: Your favorite fall memory. You can check out the details here. A few of my favorite things about fall are the cooler temperatures, beautiful colors, and the final harvesting of gardens! This was our first year at our new home and we had a wonderful garden. It was so much fun to watch our garden flourish throughout the summer and fall! It is definately one of my fondest memories of fall! We have picked tons of cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers! We made salsa, spaghetti sauce, tomato onion sauce, pickles, and more!

We even attempted to plant some sunflowers on the edge of our garden. Unfortunately the birds really enjoyed pecking all of our seeds out of the garden! So after we realized this we started some plants in the garage before putting them in the garden. They were doing well, and then with all of our stormy weather this summer our poor sunflowers would break in half from the wind. Finally, we had one left so my husband staked it up because we thought we should have at least one survivor! And it bloomed a few weeks ago! To our surprise we also had some miniature sunflowers open up this weekend (I kinda thought it was a weed!) So we had two survivors! Yeah!! So my first card is celebrating our two surviving sunflowers:

For this card I stamped the sunflower and colored it with copic markers. Then I paper pieced the ground using a piece of brown paper from the Basic Grey 6x6 Mellow paper pad. Next I cut and embossed the focal image using a petite oval nestabilities. I sponged on some antique linen distress ink and using my stamp-a-ma-jig I added a sentiment in black. I matted the focal image in GKD brown cardstock. I picked out a couple of patterns from the Basic Grey 6x6 Mellow paper pad and cut them out and embossed them using the Labels 8 Nestabilities. To mat this I traced the label 8 die's outer edge and cut it out of GKD brown cardstock. Check out the STV video on this technique: Layering Nestabilities. To complete the card I used my slot punch to make an opening for my jute ribbon to run through. I attached the sunflower charm using fine twine and attached the ribbon on the back.

I also had to make a card for all of our tomatoes! I stamped the tomato and colored it in using fantastix applicators and versmagic chalk ink. I like how the colors pop when the ink is applied to the kraft cardstock. I added some simple embossing, black gingham ribbon, and a sentiment to complete this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thank You!!

What a fun week it was being the Featured Stamper at SCS! It was so fun checking out all of the wonderful creations everyone made!! You can check them out here. I am almost done leaving comments for everyone! So this card is for everyone who participated, Thank You! I cased one of my cards: Teacher's Pet. I changed the embossing folder, colors, and added a scalloped edge instead of a thick ribbon. I also left off the sentiment because my image was a sentiment.

This card was also inspired by the CAS weekly challenge you can check it out here. I was inspired by the colors of all of the birthday balloons, so when I inked up my thank you stamp I colored it with Memento markers line by line. I also thought the ribbon went well with this image with the lines of color. The embossing folder is by Sizzix and I liked how it offered the same lines as the stamp and ribbon. I chose the border punch to coordinate with the scallops of the embossing folder.

CAS Thinking of You

I used a couple of challenges for this card. The first was the color challenge over at Stamp TV. The colors of the week were kraft, yellow, brown, and red. The other challenge was the Fall to Layout sketch from the Clean and Simple Blog. I just love fall and sunflowers, and these colors were perfect for a fall card. I tried to grow sunflowers in my garden this summer and the birds (I'm assuming the birds) kept eating all of the seeds before they could grow. So out of all of the seeds I planted 1 sunflower plant came up and bloomed. HA, it looks pretty funny in the garden!! :) Anywho, I used Gina K's sets Happy Harvest and Summer Harvest for this card. I colored the focal image with copic markers, edged it with a Martha Stewart border punch, and added some SU brown paper to the sides. The sentiment was made by punching out SU designer label punch in red, 1 1/8 inch circle in brown, SU oval punch for the phrase, and after these were all adhered together I added some bronze brads.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a super week!

Big News!

You are not going to believe what I am about to share! I recieved a message from Splitcoast Stampers and I am the featured stamper this week!!!!! I cannot even express how excited I am over this, what an honor it is to be chosen! I think my husband thought I was going to have a heart attack when I found out! I just kept saying " No way, No way, NO WAY!!!" He was just a little confused...so I tried in my excited jumble of words to tell him, and then he was happy too!

After all of the excitement I just had to make a card! I have been wanting to participate in this week's SCS CAS challenge, but the ideas just weren't sparking. Then all of a sudden things started to come together. I used Gina K's Blessed is the Season set for this card. For the dove I embossed it with clear embossing powder, sponged Memento ladybug around the edges, wiped off any ink that got on the dove with a paper towel, and cut it out.

Stamp TV Sketch CAS Style

This week's sketch at Stamp TV had a CAS version and an intermediate version. Of course I had to go with the CAS version! Instead of using paper layers I decided to emboss the sections of the sketch making it even more CAS and adhered it to some dark orange cardstock. All images are from Gina K.
Off to run some errands!

Mojo Sketch

I couldn't tell you the last time that I participated in the Mojo Monday Sketch! So, I thought I would give this week's sketch a try. I had it almost done last night, and then today I went to complete it and ended up pulling it apart to add another layer of color. I am happy that I did, it looks more finished to me now.

The card is pretty simple so I will simply list the supplies I used:

Stamps: Hero Arts and Inkadinkadoo

Paper: gkd brown, rust?, flair patterned paper

Ink: Memento rich cocoa, versamagic red brick

Accessories: nestabilities, sizzix tag die cut, ribbon by may arts, copic markers

Stamp TV Sketch

I used Stamp TV's sketch challenge for the layout of this card. My nephew's birthday is coming up, on Halloween, so I thought I would get a head start on his card. Since he is going to be 6, I chose this fun fish image and bright patterned papers, both from the Enjoy the Sunshine stamp tv kit. I used Gina's copic coloring tutorial to color in the goldfish. The sentiment is from the Spring Mix stamp set. The brown diagonal piece is embossed using a cuttlebug border from the set With Love.

I also thought I would show you all of the plums we had to tackle this weekend. From the picture it maybe doesn't look like a lot, but we have a deep sink! We made three different kinds of freezer jam and plum sauce. My hands are stained brown from cutting up over 20 cups of plums!

Today I made this Plum Crostada, it was delicious, it tasted like fall!

Here is the recipe: Plum Crostada
Tomorrow I am going to try a chicken recipe with plum salsa! Then the plums will be gone!

We also made 8 cups of salsa, 4 quarts of refrigerator pickles, and 4 cups of roasted tomato onion sauce, with the help of my Mom! Oh the joys of having a garden!

A Sketch and A Color Challenge

Well before I get to the details I thought I would share that I am going to be one of the guest designers for the Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers! Pretty exciting news for me, this will be my first designer experience and I am looking forward to it! Yeah!

Now onto the details of this clean and simple creation! The layout of this card is the sketch of the week from the Clean and Simple blog. You can see it here. I also used the color challenge from Stamp TV: brown, ivory, and yellow. These colors are so pretty together! The stamp sets that I used are Spring Mix and Enjoy the Sunshine Stamp TV Sets from Gina K. The brown and ivory are pure luxury cardstocks from Gina K, and the yellow was from my pile of scraps! The embossing was all done with my cuttlebug using the swiss dots folder and the just my type embossing borders.

Now that I had some crafty fun, it is time for some plum fun! We picked our plum tree yesterday and I have a huge bag waiting for me! If you have any plum recipes let me know!! :) I'll give em' a try!
