Santa Claus is Coming to Town

What a lazy day! I spent a lot of time online today browsing through the SCS gallery! I think I am in denial that it is back to work tomorrow!! While browsing I saw this card, and I knew I just had to make it! Thanks for the inspiration Kittie! I stuck to one color in the sponging, I didn't want to go too crazy I haven't tried sponging a background before! Maybe next time I'll be adventurous and try more colors, because I love the look it gives! I used Memento paris dusk for the night sky, and a 5/8 inch circle punch to create a mask for the moon. I am not sure who the stamp is by, I know I bought it at a Stamping Convention a few years ago... I do know that the sentiment is by Papertrey, mega mixed messages. And the ribbon is from Joann.
On a side note, I didn't make it further in the CAS design team challenge. I was kinda bummed because I made it further last time. Oh well, maybe next time!
Have a fantastic week!

Winter Design Team Challenge Round 2

Oh did I struggle with this card! I had no idea what I wanted to do colors, accents, stamps, nothin'. So last night I found this fantastic pewter satin ribbon, and thought I would start there. The challenge was to use a relative name/word on the card. I went through my binder where I have all of my stamped images and die cuts to find a stamp that would work. I had picked up the "For my Mother" stamp this fall, it is by Endless Creations. So now I knew I was making a card for my Mom using pewter ribbon.... Next, I found some ink that matched the ribbon it is by TLC and it is called graphite. Now for a focal image.... I had my top note die cut on my desk still so I decided to use that, and I have had the Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set that my sister picked up at a rummage for me that I still hadn't inked up. The wheels finally started turning! I decided not to color the image so I simply stamped the sentiment and image on the top note die and trimmed off the side edge. Then I thought a little bit of soft color might be nice so I used very light copic markers to add little touches of color, their so light it's hard to see them in the pictures. For the card base I tried to chose a color the of a hydrangea since I didn't color my image in, and added a little texture by running it through the cuttlebug with the Victoria embossing folder. Next I added my ribbon using a stay put bow, and polished it off with Martha's flourish border punch to compliment the top note die cut at the bottom.

That's all for now, off to clean up my mess! I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! Don't eat too much turkey!

Featured Stamper

This week the featured stamper was Criminal Grace aka Sarah. Her gallery is full of wonderful CAS cards, and you know I just love that style! I found this card, and knew I had to give it a try!

I chose to use a glitter paper, added a glitter brad, and added some snowflake ribbon. I also used my top note die cut to make the top layer. The Merry Christmas sentiment is from an acrylic set that I had purchased at Hobby Lobby.

On a personal note, my sister-in-law had her baby Thursday night!! She came a couple of weeks early, but Mom and baby, Zoey Kate, are doing wonderful. Can't wait to meet her, I have to wait until I get rid of this cold!

On a side note, I made it to the next round for the SCS CAS design team. Yeah! The next challenge is to make a CAS card for a relative. So I better get working on it! Have a great week!

Givin' It Another Go

It is time for the CAS design team search for winter over at SCS. I decided to go for it again and see what happens. The challenge for the first round is the theme: celebration/holiday or birthday, with ribbon and bling. But as always, also keep it clean and simple! I used the current fall to layout sketch as a starting point for this card. I had my Basic Grey 6x6 Waissal paper pad out so I picked out some papers from that. I die cut the SU top note and ornaments from sizzix. I added some Martha ribbon to cover up the seam, and added a touch of bling to the sentiment. And presto, I was done. Now I wait.... that's the hardest part! :)

Thanks for stopping by!

CAS Dasher

This week's clean and simple challenge was a sketch based on this card. I chose to switch up the theme to Christmas and used Dasher and Merry Christmas from Stampin Up. I also chose to use a patterned paper from Basic Grey's Waissal 6x6 paper pad for the background. That's all for now, short and sweet today. I didn't get any stampin time in this weekend, too busy hanging out with family and shopping! So if I have more time this week I'll post again. Thanks for stopping by!

Fall to Layout Sketch

I found some time to participate in the fall to layout sketch this week. I chose to use a stamp from Perfect Presentation from Stampin Up. My Mom picked this up for me at a rummage sale this summer. I stamped using Martha Stewart inks, and punched out the snowflakes with a 7/8 inch circle punch and added a gem to the center of each. Then I stamped the whole image inking up with a green edge, popped it up on a scallop square, and added a gem. Next I broke out the stamp a ma jig and stamped my sentiment in black. The red mat is embossed with a snowflake embossing folder, and I popped up the white panel on top of this for more dimension.

That's all for now, thank goodness tomorrow is Friday! :)

CAS Guest Designer

The moment has arrived! This is my week to be the CAS guest designer over at SCS. I was so excited I made two samples today. This week's challenge was a color challenge: old olive, soft pink, kraft (ha! you know how much I have been lovin' this color!), white, and optional: marina mist. I don't have any Stampin'up cardstock so I found some colors in my stash that were close. For my first card, I had to make a Christmas card because I want to get my Christmas cards done soon! The snowflake punch is of course by Martha, I picked it up today at Michaels. I added a soft pink gem in the center of these snowflakes. I stamped the snowman tag in blue and colored in the nose with a soft pink copic marker, and added an olive grograin bow to the top of the tag. The white ribbon is by american crafts, love their ribbon!

For my second card I used the stamp set Watercolor Trio. I bought this set such a long time ago, and this is the first time I have inked it up! I stamped using colorbox white, and added some piercing for the fluttering of the butterfly. I added some olive ribbon and tied on a soft pink button next, and finished it off with the birthday sentiment.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you participate in the color challenge this week!

More Kraft??

I am going krazy with kraft these days!! I can't seem to make a card without it. This is a clean and simple card using the fall to layout sketch from the clean and simple blog. I used last year's stampin up set christmas punch. I stamped the snowflakes in memento rhubarb stalk and punched them out using the su punch. I added a ruby gem to the center of the snowflakes, and stamped the sentiment in memento tuxedo black. I can't remember the name of the su stamp set... That's all for now, have a great week. I have more conferences tomorrow night, and my anniversary is Wednesday. Can't believe it's been nine years!
